Why We’re Using Websites to Fund School Safety (And How You Can Help)

By Robert Jordan, Founder of Sterling Media House & Protecting Our Students, Inc.

I’ve spent the last few years building something I believe in—a nonprofit called Protecting Our Students (POSI) . Our mission is simple but critical: to give every K-12 school in America a clear, measurable way to understand and improve their safety.

The problem we set out to solve is staggering. The U.S. spends billions on school safety every year, yet there is no shared standard for measuring it. Every school uses a different checklist. Safety data lives in disconnected binders. Parents, who are desperate for transparency, often have no verifiable information to go on.

This isn’t a problem of effort. It’s a problem of fragmentation. Without a standardized framework, schools can’t benchmark their progress, identify gaps clearly, or communicate their safety posture to families in a credible way.

So, we built the solution: The POSI 4‑Level Safety Standard℠. It’s a self-assessment platform that evaluates 94 discrete Safety Zones℠ across every campus—from physical security to behavioral climate to emergency coordination. It gives schools a confidential, private-by-default Dynamic Safety Score℠ and a clear, actionable roadmap for improvement.

It works. But we quickly realized a challenge: to truly protect all 50 million students, the system needs to be accessible to every school, regardless of budget. That’s why POSI provides its assessments at no cost to schools.

Which brings me to the other part of my journey.

I also have a deep skill set in building websites, search engine optimization, and marketing to small business owners. I love helping entrepreneurs succeed online. For years, I’ve watched local businesses struggle to be found, to convert visitors into customers, to build a reputation that brings in new leads.

That’s where Sterling Media House was born. Our approach is simple: build high-performance websites that don’t just look good, but actively bring in leads, calls, and booked jobs. We engineer the entire system—media, automated follow-up, review generation—so our clients become the undeniable #1 choice in their zip code.

But I realized something profound. These two worlds—school safety and small business growth—are not separate. A thriving community needs safe schools. A safe school needs a strong community behind it.

So, I created a model that links them together.

When you partner with Sterling Media House for a new website, we ask you to make a tax-deductible donation to Protecting Our Students instead of paying a traditional fee to us. Your donation—as little as $250—funds a comprehensive POSI safety assessment for a local K-12 school.

Here’s what that accomplishes:

It’s a win-win-win.

Why this matters to you as a business owner:

Your customers, their families, and your employees care about the community where they live and work. When you choose to partner with us, you’re not just investing in your business’s growth—you’re investing in the safety of the next generation. It’s a story you can proudly share on your new website, building loyalty and trust with your audience.

We take on a limited number of clients because we dedicate senior-level attention to every single one. Your market is exclusively yours. We don’t work for your competitors.
